Life-long learning with the Heritage & Learning Centre at Scampston Conservatory

Thanks to the support of the Heritage Lottery Fund, the Heritage & Learning Centre at Scampston Conservatory has spent the last two years developing an educational and learning programme to meet the needs of the local community and beyond.

As we become more established, we are grateful for further grants and support from partners who include North Yorkshire County Council, The Capability Brown Festival 2016, Stronger Communities, Ryedale District Council and local schools.

Adult Learning
We pride ourselves on delivering a professional adult learning programme, both independently and with partners, offering learning opportunities in a range of exciting and interesting subjects. The programme is ever- developing and includes working with glass, water-colour painting, willow and textile crafts.

We also offer a series of evening lectures which have proven to be very popular, with experts sharing their knowledge a range of subjects, from gardening to history and the arts. You can find information about our adult educational programme here.

We are always looking to expand our adult learning offer and would like to hear from potential teachers and subject specialists. If you are interested and feel you can offer something new, please get in touch

Schools

Our Schools programme is open to all schools.

For Primary Schools, we offer a programme of self-led visits which include a range of ‘hands-on’ activities for pupils, introducing them to the world of conservation and nature study. A leaflet is available on request.

For Secondary Schools, our classroom and grounds can support teaching programmes in photography, art, travel/tourism and media studies. Please contact us and we are happy to support your lesson planning.
