Life at Scampston – Indoors and Out Exhibition
Over the past few years, we have been piecing together stories of Scampston – indoors and out – discovering what life was like on a country estate during the latter half of the last century. We have talked to gardeners, gamekeepers, woodmen, household staff and villagers, all of whom have kindly shared their memories with us.
The exhibition in the conservatory bothies shares some of their fascinating stories with photographs and audio clips. Full copies of the oral history transcripts and recordings are available for research purposes.
Regular updates, photos and stories from the project are also posted on the project blog available here.
