For Families
We welcome families at Scampston.
In the Walled Garden the restaurant is well equiped for children, with highchairs, baby changing facilities, special children's menus and ice-cream (not just for the children!).
Being divided into separate areas, the Walled Garden is a great place for hide and seek, but please be aware of the two open ponds. Children of all ages love searching for Scamp the Mole hiding around the garden and spotting the butterflies and bees that are attracted to many of the flowers.
There is also plenty of space for active play on the Cascade Circuit Walk. This contains an orienteering style nature trail for children and their families and a small natural play area for youngsters. Race around the parterre, pretend to 'row across the ocean' in a wooden canoe, 'set up home' under the trees or in the wigloo, see how many pine cones you can collect and don't forget to check out the mini-beast hotel and search for Scamp and friends houses along the way. Ask in the ticket office to borrow an explorer pack whilst you are here.
In the Hall children's worksheets are available, free of charge, for children taking part in the guided tours.
Children under the age of 5 come into Scampston for free and you are welcome to bring a picnic (picnic tables are available adjacent to the car parking area), and play ball games and fly your kite in the 80 acre, 'Capability' Brown, parkland.
