Learn how to make a beautiful lantern using willow and paper with Sarah Hall Baqai

Produce a large beautiful seed pod inspired lantern using willow and paper.  On this course you will learn the basic skills to complete a striking lantern which will incorporate battery LED lighting suitable for indoor or outdoor use.  Take home a completed lantern ready to decorate using the coloured translucent paper supplied.  Please be prepared for an exciting full-on busy day.  Please bring an apron/coverall plus a large bin liner as your work may still be wet.

Sarah Hall Baqai

Sarah Hall Baqai is an artist with a background in graphic design.  Sarah started working with willow having been inspired by the magic of lantern festivals. Light is incorporated into sculptural forms which she combines with her skills in papier mache and collage in creating different themes.  Sarah works from her studio in York producing 2D and 3D works in papier mache, collage, cut-outs and painted forms drawn from subjects and characters from folk art and folk tales, world travel and the peculiarities of everyday life, observations and nature.  Her work has been exhibited in galleries in London & the North of England, Paris, The Netherlands and USA
