We are seeking a friendly and positive candidate for this part-time role who is self-motivated, organised, efficient and able to take on many varied projects and tasks. Your main duties will be to oversee many of the office administration responsibilities and assist with certain financial aspects such as invoice analysis and posting.

Scampston Estate is a family run, modern rural estate with a diverse portfolio of businesses including an award-winning visitor attraction, farming, residential property, agricultural property, a luxury holiday lodge park, park events and others. The Estate Office is located at Scampston Hall, one of North Yorkshire’s finest regency houses, just a few miles from the picturesque town of Malton and easily accessible just off the A64.

We are seeking a friendly and positive candidate for this permanent part-time role who is self-motivated, organised, efficient and able to take on many varied projects and tasks. Your main duties will be to oversee many of the office administration responsibilities as well as assisting the Finance Manager with certain financial aspects.

Summary of Responsibilities

The main responsibilities will include:

  • Purchase ledger: print, assign and enter purchase invoices into Quickbooks, review bank transactions to monitor payments before they become due as well as reconciling statements.
  • Sales ledger: assist with raising sales invoices & recharges, including group bookings.
  • Banking: cash, collect and process garden takings weekly on Excel and Quickbooks, deposit takings and monitor change.
  • Manage and reconciling petty cash quarterly.
  • Management of ad-hoc cash transactions.
  • Answering telephone calls, responding to e-mails and finance queries as well as general administrative support to the wider office.
  • Ordering of equipment and management of office supplies and stock.
  • Submitting monthly electricity meter readings & reconciling electric accounts.
  • Assisting the Finance Manager with renewal of contracts such as telephone, electric and merchant services.
  • Other general ad-hoc work as requested by the Estate Management Team.
  • Scanning & filing to ensure up to date records. 

Qualities, Skills & Experience

We are seeking a friendly and personable candidate with the following attributes:

  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as on your own initiative
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Some knowledge of accounting software such as Quickbooks or similar would be beneficial but not essential as training can be provided
  • High level of organisational and time management skills, as well as being accurate and having great attention to detail
  • Confident and professional in dealing with both external and internal parties
  • Be flexible and adaptable to changing circumstances or priorities within the organisation and have a positive attitude to any potential changes and challenges.

Job type: Permanent, part-time
Hours: 20-30 hours per week. Flexible with actual working hours, but ideally between 9am and 3pm, Monday to Friday.

Salary:

 £11.50 - £12.50 per hour dependent on experience
