Parkland Trails

Scampston Park offers some beautiful walks for visitors of varying length.

The trails will take you through the Hall gardens and around the lake, enabling you to take in Capability Brown's landscape and admire the vistas he created. The Palladian Bridge is a real highlight of his landscape design here at Scampston.

There are three different parkland trails to choose from; you will find these colour-coded with posts.  A number of interpretation boards will also give you further detail about the various features of the landscape and buildings you will find along your route:

  • The Cascade Circuit is just less than one mile in length and takes you on a journey around the woodland gardens and lakes that surround the Hall. This is the best option for small children as it also includes the Fairy Forest.
  • The Parkland Trail is a half mile extension to the Cascade Trail which allows you to experience more of the open parkland, views and mature trees.
  • An alternative extension, open at certain times of the year, is the Old Aviaries Trail which includes a walk through an area currently being restored back into parkland.
