Scampston Estate is a family run, modern rural estate (see www.scampston.co.uk) with a diverse portfolio of businesses including an award-winning visitor attraction, farming, residential property, agricultural property, a luxury holiday lodge park, park events and others. The Estate Office is located at Scampston Hall, one of North Yorkshire’s finest regency houses, just a few miles from the picturesque town of Malton and easily accessible just off the A64.
We are seeking a friendly and positive candidate for this part-time role who is self-motivated, organised, efficient and able to manage many varied projects and tasks. Your main duties will be to manage many of the office administration responsibilities and assist with certain financial aspects such as invoice analysis and posting.
Summary of Responsibilities
The Office Administrator’s responsibilities include:
• Purchase ledger: print, code, sign off and post purchase invoices and reconcile supplier accounts
• Sales ledger: assist with raising sales invoices
• Banking: manage floats, reconcile petty cash and process weekly takings from the Café and Ticket Office during open season
• Organise and assist with servicing of Estate equipment e.g alarms, PAT testing
• Ordering of equipment and management of office stock e.g first aid, stationery
• Support the office staff with implementing new systems and improvements
• Submitting monthly electricity meter readings
• General admin support including answering the telephone, dealing with post, scanning, filing and archiving
• Other general ad-hoc work as requested by the Finance Team and Estate owner and provide cover for office staff when on annual leave
Qualities, Skills & Experience
We are seeking an exceptional candidate with the following attributes:
• Ability to work as part of a team
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
• A proven multi-tasker who is organised, efficient and productive as well as being accurate and having great attention to detail
• Ability to work on your own initiative and research problems
• Confident and professional in dealing with both external and internal parties
• Previous admin experience essential, previous accounting experience desirable
Job type: Temporary 6 months with view to extend, part-time
Hours: 12 hours per week. Flexible with working hours but ideally 4 mornings of 3 hours. Additional hours may be available for the right candidate.
