Orchids at the White House

Read the latest news from ‘The Bothies’ in Scampston Conservatory
First lady Jill Biden, wife of President Biden, recently received a namesake orchid from Art Chadwick who was our guest speaker on orchids back in June. Art, who lectures on orchids all over the world, interrupted his holiday in the UK to visit Scampston Conservatory, which was once the home of many orchids bred by WH St Quintin and head gardener Frank Puddle.
We were delighted to welcome him and equally delighted to read about his achievement in the American newspaper, the Richmond Dispatch. The orchid was a Brassolaeliocattleya ‘Jill Biden’ and has been bred by Art who was invited to present it to her personally on a visit to the White House.
